READING BETWEEN THE LINES OF A FEW NOTES:
Two Compositions (The Second for Guitar)

Allan Wendt, Architect
Charleston, South Carolina

(1) Being a practitioner rather than a theorist, I find myself a little hard-pressed to come up with relationships between music and architecture. They are simply two different things that I do.

(2) I don't try to relate the two, except in contrast to each other. One is pure abstraction, caught up more in ontological thought; the other cannot even come close to the same degree of abstraction. Each provides sanctuary from the other.

(3) I suppose some morphological connections can be discovered after the fact. However, to my mind, this would amount to an attempt to pare down a composition of either kind to that which is essential.
